The Greater San Jose Alternative Education Collaboration (G.S.J.A.E.C.) and its partner agencies recognize the importance of protecting your privacy and complying with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Our policy is to use the information we receive from our website visitors for internal purposes and only after they have explicitly and intentionally provided it. Our current encryption and SSL standard make sure any transaction of personal information is secure? The C.O.P.P.A. requires we inform parents/guardians about how we collect, use, and disclose personal information from children under the age of 13. Any parent/guardian or child who would like to receive more information about alternative school opportunities in Santa Clara County are asked to fill out a Request Form. We do not collect any personal information unless a guest of our site requests information or a service provider collects and enters personal information with a client’s consent. If a guest is under the age of 13, we request a parent/guardian’s email address or other contact information; we then contact parents and inform them of their child’s interest in the G.S.J.A.E.C. and provide them an opportunity to ask we delete their child’s information from our database. We do not share any information about any guests/clients to any third parties; however by the very nature of the G.S.J.A.E.C. linking prospective at-risk or out of school youth with ideal school settings, the G.S.J.A.E.C. and its partners do hold the right to forward personal information to service providers, including school districts and schools only when necessary. By virtue of their participation in the G.S.JA.E.C., partner agencies and school districts/schools may obtain personal information that guests voluntarily submit.
